LARGE-SCALE PROJECT

SHIBUYA FUKURAS

Project Concept

Created by rebuilding the area including the former Tokyu Plaza Shibuya in Dogenzaka 1-chome, Shibuya Fukuras is expected to become a new gateway to the West Exit of Shibuya Station for multi-generational visitors to Shibuya and inbound visitors.
Shibuya is a district visited by many people, including visitors from overseas, in order to shop or explore. On the first floor of Shibuya Fukuras, a bus terminal and tourism support facilities were established, enhancing the international competitiveness of the area around Shibuya Station. Furthermore, Tokyu Plaza Shibuya has re-opened with a new look and the environment was developed as an urban tourism base, providing attractive places for shopping, etc.
In Shibuya, a center of new trends, we aim to create a place that greatly enhances the happiness people get from living in their own way and where all kinds of people can enjoy a rich life.

Creating a place for starting business

  • In addition to the office floors in the high-rise section, we developed the industrial expansion support facility, Business Airport Shibuya Fukuras, as a base for promoting the creative content industry and the entry of companies from overseas, creating a place for start-up companies and creators to start their business.

With a total of 69 stores, the new Tokyu Plaza Shibuya has been born in the commercial facility zone.

  • The new Tokyu Plaza Shibuya has opened in the middle section and on the 17th and 18th floors. On these floors there will be a rooftop open-air garden, Shibu Niwa, where visitors to Shibuya can rest and relax, and within an unprecedented floor structure, a total of 69 stores attract mature adults with an urban sensibility.

Bus terminal and tourism support facilities on the 1st floor

  • Bus terminal where general buses and airport limousine buses from/to Haneda and Narita airports arrive and depart
  • The tourism support facility shibuya-san with functions such as tourist information and luggage storage is set up in the bus terminal.
Inside shibuya-san, there is an art center to promote the art and culture of Shibuya throughout the world.

For the safety of pedestrians in the vicinity, the local cargo handling office is located in the basement of Shibuya Fukuras.

  • Some of the surrounding streets have been redeveloped as places where visitors can relax with peace of mind. To prevent road congestion or accidents due to cargo handling by delivery companies, etc., a regional cargo handling office, ESSA, has been set up in the basement Shibuya Fukuras. This enhances the safety and comfort of visitors and ease of getting around, creating a bustling local shopping district.

Structure and Characteristics of Facilities

The various facilities of Shibuya Fukuras enhance the happiness people get from living in their own way.

In addition to the office floors in the high-rise section, Business Airport Shibuya Fukuras, a shared office space developed by TLC, serves as an industrial expansion support facility. The newly-reborn Tokyu Plaza Shibuya is located on the 2nd to 8th floors in the middle section and the 17th and 18th floors, and the bus terminal and tourism support facilities are on the 1st floor. Another distinctive feature of the building is the regional cargo handling office on the 2nd basement floor, which can also be used by companies delivering goods to local shopping streets.

Tokyu Plaza

In the commercial facilities zone, the new Tokyu Plaza Shibuya, with the concept of “a Shibuya that adults can enjoy,” has been born. It consists of 69 attractive stores based on the keywords “food,” “health,” “beauty,” “hobbies,” and “lifestyle,” which are of particular interest to mature adults with urban sensibility, who are the target users. On the rooftop floor is Shibu Niwa, a rooftop garden with a panoramic view of Shibuya. The entertainment restaurant CÉ LA VI, coming to Japan for the first time, is an adult social gathering place offering a unique experience. On the 6th and 7th restaurant floors, Shibuya Grand Shokudo offers a wide variety of restaurants popular with Shibuya’s adults, which they can choose according to the occasion or mood.

Industrial expansion support facility: Business Airport Shibuya Fukuras

As an industrial expansion support facility providing a foothold for promoting the creative content industry and entry of foreign companies, Business Airport Shibuya Fukuras has opened as a shared office space for members. The proportion of the area occupied by the shared workplace (lounge) has been enhanced to facilitate work, business meetings, and relaxation.

Bus Terminal

In addition to general buses, airport limousine buses from/to Haneda and Narita airports arrive and depart in front of the tourism support facility. This is literally the gateway to Shibuya for tourists from both Japan and overseas.

  • Shibuya–Haneda Airport: 31 services*
  • Futako-Tamagawa/Shibuya–Narita Airport: 29 services*
