Diverse Talent Playing Active Roles

Promoting Understanding of LGBTQ+

In order to create a workplace where a diverse range of individuals can thrive, we have established a support system for LGBTQ+ employees, including the establishment of internal rules recognizing same-sex partnerships and the implementation of training programs.

Same-Sex Partnership System

We have defined same-sex partners as well as the scope of application of our employment regulations and other various rules in order to enable employees with same-sex partners to apply for the same systems and benefits as those with opposite-sex partners.

Awareness Initiatives

We conduct seminars for employees who have reached certain ages. These include seminars for middle-aged employees that provide an opportunity to re-examine their future careers and purpose of work to sustain and increase their motivation, as well as life planning seminars, which aim to support employees in developing second careers.

External Evaluation (PRIDE Index)

We received the highest Gold rating in the PRIDE Index evaluation for the second consecutive year in recognition of our efforts including those to create a framework for supporting LGBTQ+ ally activities as a company and to hold seminars for sexual minorities in conjunction with other companies.

Going forward, we will continue to conduct internal training and awareness initiatives, and participate in events with the aim of establishing an environment in which individual differences are respected and all employees can work with vitality and peace of mind.

Support for Development of Laws

Endorsement of Business for Marriage Equality

From August 2021, we have endorsed the campaign run by three non-profit organizations active in Japan to make visible the companies that support marriage equality (legislation of same-sex marriage). As of November 4, 2022, 314 companies and organizations have expressed their support for marriage equality (legislation of same-sex marriage).

Signing the Equality Act Japan

The Equality Act Japan is an international petition campaign to enact an LGBT equality law in Japan, launched on the occasion of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. We signed this petition in August 2021.

Employees with Disabilities

We have promoted understanding and established a supportive environment with regard to disabilities, and our employees with disabilities play an active role across our various business divisions.

Challenge Project (Wellness Unit's team for hiring persons with disabilities)

Our Challenge Project Team consisting of Challenge Staff* is responsible for performing accounting and other tasks for Group companies. Work is assigned taking into account the unique attributes and work experience of each individual, with dedicated members providing support. The work performed and results delivered by the Challenge Project have received increasing acclaim from the divisions concerned, leading to an increase in the number of work requests, which in turn contributes to greater operational efficiency in the requesting division.

Employees with disabilities working as part of the Challenge Project are known as Challenge Staff.

Awareness Initiatives

We also conduct training for managers to foster greater understanding of disabilities.

Senior-Age Employees

We are committed to creating an environment in which our senior-age employees can fully utilize their wealth of experience and abilities.

Systems

We have introduced a partner duties system for senior-age employees rehired on a contract basis that enables them to flexibly select the number of days they work to accommodate nursing care or other reasons. In addition, employees working as partners are permitted to take on second jobs in order to support their pursuit of second careers.

Awareness Initiatives

We conduct seminars for employees who have reached certain ages. Seminars for middle age employees provide an opportunity to re-examine their future careers and purpose of work to sustain their motivation, while life planning seminars, which include financial planning components, are aimed at supporting employees in developing second careers.

Alumni Network

By maintaining links with alumni leveraging our existing relationships and promoting deeper exchange, we will create new value.

TLC's Alumni Network

The alumni network is an organization that any full-time employee of TLC can join, regardless of the number of years they have been employed. The network serves as a platform for creating new value by deepening exchange through publication by the Secretariat of a mail magazine and holding of regular events.

Alumni usually refers to university graduates, but in recent years it also has come to be used to refer to groups of people who have retired from a company.
